About
Growing up along the US-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, I've witnessed firsthand some of the harsh realities that come with a city built by and for immigrants, in a nation built by immigrants. Ultimately, I plan on pursuing a law degree to promote justice by providing low cost legal services (free, if attainable) to underserved immigrant children, families, refugees, and low-income peoples whom have no other access. I plan on working with reputable nonprofit organizations that will help me attain this goal of providing for underserved, minority populations.Â
Aside from my passion for helping those who otherwise cannot gain access to adequate resources, in my spare time, I enjoy reading novels, binge watching TV series, completing puzzles, and traveling whenver I can.
My Experience
Background & Expertise
Legal Assistant, Veterans Legal Institute
September 2019 - November 2019
Through UC Irvine's Field Study program, I was afforded the opportunity to work as a Legal Assistant at the Veterans Legal Institute, where I was able to assist in interviewing clients and organizing files for in-house clinics, managed a high volume of confidential records, processes, and documents, as well as ensured prompt and professional responses to phone/email inquiries and displayed professionalism in all interactions.
Legal Intern, Manning Law Firm, APC
June - August 2016
As a high school student, I was gifted the incredible opportunity to shadow an attorney for the summer. As an intern, I drafted and distributed Notice of Error letters to clients to collect necessary or missing documentation to complete petitions and update information. I also organized and distributed files in the firm's database, concurrent with the existing filing system.
Research Assistant, Working Memory and Plasticity Lab - UC Irvine
January - August 2018
As a Research Assistant with UCI's School of Social Ecology, I was on a small team collaborating on an undergraduate research project for five months. Throughout my time on the team, I collected and cleaned data, administered various study components, and worked closely with participants to ensure the study would be corroborated with accurate findings. I made sure to pay close attention to detail, even a tenth of a percentage would have had detrimental effects to the research.
